Chopin, Chopin!
Paris, 1835. Fryderyk Chopin is 25 years old and a favorite of Parisian salons, the aristocracy, and the King of France. No significant event can take place without his participation. We see him on nightly outings and concert afterparties. Usually brimming with energy, covering up his illness with jokes. His life is slipping away, yet Fryderyk doesn't slow down. He creates his greatest works, sometimes by special commission, and at the same time, for financial reasons, he gives piano lessons. He is admired by his friends and adored by women. Over time, however, he matures to the realization that music is the most important thing in his life.

Who really lives in our heads? A crazy person, a rational person, an impulsive person, a prudent person? Or maybe our minds are really crowded? Genovese describes the story of Lara and Piero's first date, looking deep into the minds of his characters. He shows fears, uncertainties and desires. He discovers the mysterious mechanisms that are responsible for our actions. Different personalities have their own voices and their own reasons. They discuss, argue, get emotional, and each of them wants their decision to be final. But what if none of them is right?

Vermiglio
In the four seasons, nature completes its cycle. A girl can become a woman. A belly can swell to give new life. One can lose the path that led safely home, one can sail the seas towards unknown lands. In the four seasons, one can die and be reborn. It's 1944. In the small mountain village of Vermiglio, war seems distant, yet its presence permeates every day. The sudden appearance of Pietro, a deserter fleeing the front, disrupts the dynamics of the local teacher's family and changes them forever.

Radu Jude's new film is set in Cluj, the capital of Transylvania. Orsolya works there as a bailiff and has a case to solve involving Ion. The man is a former athlete who has fallen into alcoholism and homelessness, having been unable to find permanent shelter for a long time. He must also move out of the basement he temporarily occupies, as the luxury Kontinental Hotel will soon be built on the site. However, the eviction Orsolya carries out has tragic consequences. These events profoundly impact the woman, plunging her into a serious existential crisis. Orsolya must confront her feelings of guilt and questions about individual responsibility in an increasingly oppressive reality, including economically.

Darkness shrouds the land—and the secrets of a village cut off from time and history. When bloodthirsty nobles attempt to invade this isolated microcosm to modernize it and subordinate it to their own interests, the fragile harmony is shattered. Walter Thirsk (the outstanding Caleb Landry Jones), protector and community spirit, faces a dramatic choice: how can he preserve the rhythm of his people's lives as change inevitably approaches? This is a story about community, nature, and the price of progress—told with ruthless respect for the people who work the land. Because once you find your land, you never leave it.

The Sleeper. El Caravaggio perdido
In April 2021, the Ansorena auction house in Madrid listed a painting titled "Ecce Homo" with a starting price of €1,500. The artist's identity remained unknown—until then. Within hours, experts from Spain and Italy identified it as a lost work by Caravaggio, a Baroque master. The painting was immediately withdrawn from the auction, and experts, dealers, and collectors jumped in, offering exorbitant sums. However, voices soon emerged questioning the painting's authenticity and the integrity of the appraisers. How do you determine the truth when large sums of money are at stake?

Nejma is a young woman who fights bulls in the south of France. After one of her fights, she is mauled, and moments later, she begins to notice disturbing changes in her body. At the same time, young men begin to disappear in the area. Everyone suspects a bull that has broken free of its tether.
Acclaimed at the Cannes Film Festival and lauded by critics, "Animal" is a directorial triumph for Emma Benestan, a young French director who follows in the footsteps of Julia Ducournau and Coralie Fargeat. Her latest film deftly combines feminist social drama with elements of David Cronenberg's body cinema to tell a story of true female injustice and righteous revenge.

Letters from Wilcza Street
A street in central Warsaw. Arjun Talwar, who emigrated here a decade ago from India, still struggles with feelings of alienation. Wilcza doesn't make things easy for him. Seeking assimilation, the director begins filming his neighbors, which often puts their relationships to the test. Despite this, Arjun perseveres in devising new ways to bridge the gap between their two worlds.
With the help of Mo, a friend from college, also an immigrant and a filmmaker, Arjun uncovers the secrets of the street, from which a network of fascinating characters emerges: a postman who, in addition to letters, delivers remedies for loneliness; a visitor from Damascus trying to recreate his hometown from memory; a traveling brass band, and many others. The director discovers that they have more in common than they might think – they all live between the past and the present, an imagined homeland and the real one. The street connects them like an invisible thread, offering solace in the face of the melancholy of everyday life.
From just over a kilometer away on Wilcza Street, a picture of contemporary Europe emerges—a kaleidoscope of contradictions and anxieties. The film overturns stereotypes, seeking to break down the fictitious boundaries between neighbors. Poland, often perceived as homogeneous, hostile, and right-wing, is given the opportunity to look at itself in the mirror, where the immigrant director paints an intimate portrait of his new country with humor and perspective.

Animal

Seven Samurai
The greatest epic in the history of Japanese cinema. "Seven Samurai" takes us to the heart of feudal Japan, ravaged by war, in the 16th century. Poor peasants seek protection from bandits with equally impoverished ronin (wandering samurai). The resulting alliance of two estates will face trial by fire as they work together to repel an attack by outlaws. The strength of "Seven Samurai" lies in its precise, epic, and detailed narrative, which introduces us not only to the titular characters but also to the entire village: a microcosm that could collapse at any moment. Filming lasted a staggering 148 days; at the time of its release, it was the most expensive Japanese film ever made. The risk paid off: Kurosawa's spirit of adventure, combat skill, and sweeping scope remain unmatched to this day.

Throne of Blood
Shakespeare in Japanese? Kurosawa's legendary adaptation of "Macbeth" is a chilling vision blending European sources, an Asian context, and the director's own signature style. The dark story of General Washizu (Toshiro Mifune) and his shrewd, cunning wife, Asaji (Isuzu Yamada), relocates a timeless tragedy about the lust for power and the price of crimes committed in the name of unsound ambition to the 16th-century island of Hokkaido. Kurosawa perfectly complements Shakespeare's dramaturgy (he recalled that "Macbeth" was his favorite play by the Englishman) with a refined visual style inspired by Noh theater and ink painting (sumi-e), and an expressive use of the natural world, particularly fog and rain. Donald Richie called "Throne of Blood" an "icy" work – it is a spectacle that is formally perfect, cruel and visually beautiful.

The Straight Story
The film tells the story of Straight's six-week odyssey, as he resolves to reconcile with his ailing brother. He hasn't spoken to him in over a decade. Since his driver's license has long been revoked and he's visually impaired, he decides to hit the road in the only vehicle available to him—a small tractor-trailer. He travels 300 miles along local roads, through the fields and meadows of Iowa and Wisconsin. He drives slowly, so to speak, savoring the journey, like Goethe's wandering Wilhelm Meister, not so much learning about life as recalling it and organizing the most important events. Driving slowly, he can admire the changing landscape and contemplate sunsets, has time to chat with the people he meets, and at night, he stops wherever dusk happens to find him—at the edge of a forest or field. He is free—living life to the fullest, in his own way and at his own pace.

Ran
At the time of "Ran"'s premiere, Kurosawa was 75: an age worthy of a master. Loosely based on "King Lear" and the legends of Motonari Mōri, the director intended this historical spectacle as the culmination of his own creative journey. The story of the feudal lord Hidetora and his three faithless sons perhaps reflects the story of the filmmaker himself: an aging cinematic giant struggling to adapt to his new reality. Once again, the production was partially financed by a foreign producer, allowing the film to achieve the scope and scale Kurosawa envisioned (work on the script took a decade). In "Ran," every detail of color, every element of the set design, and every frame composition were carefully planned by the director, striving for perfection. The result is a fresco in which a detached perspective contrasts with the heartbreaking drama of a divided family.
