In the basement of his shop, Clark stumbles upon a passageway leading to a disturbing, seemingly empty maze of endless corridors. When he tells his therapist, she believes he may be hallucinating, foreshadowing a deterioration in his mental state. Things change when Clark stops attending appointments—the concerned therapist sets out to discover what has happened to him. During her search, she finds herself in a reality where time loses meaning, space undergoes strange transformations, and something unnatural lurks beyond the limits of visibility.

Christopher Nolan's feature-length directorial debut is also a manifesto of his future cinema: labyrinthine narrative, an obsession with control, and a fascination with the fluid nature of identity. Shot on a shoestring budget (a mere $6,000!), in black and white, utilizing natural light and the London apartments of the director's friends, "Following" remains one of the most striking examples of independent cinema of the 1990s.
The film's protagonist, an unnamed young writer, begins following random people on the streets of London, using them as material for his observations. However, this initially innocent fascination quickly turns into a dangerous ritual when he encounters the charismatic burglar Cobb—a guide through a world of manipulation, self-performing, and moral disorientation. Nolan leads the viewer through a series of seemingly unrelated events, disrupting the linearity of the story and forcing the viewer to constantly reconstruct reality.

The Silence of the Lambs
Young FBI cadet Clarice Starling (played by the sensational Jodie Foster) is tasked with catching a serial killer called Buffalo Bill. To this end, she is sent to Dr. Hannibal Lecter (an iconic performance by Anthony Hopkins), an imprisoned psychopath and cannibal who may be able to help identify the killer.
The relationship between Starling and Lecter deviates from the usual acquaintance and is based on a dangerous psychological game. Lecter analyzes Clarice's traumas, in exchange for which he offers clues leading to Buffalo Bill's capture.

The Invite
Joe and Angela have been married for over a decade. Their relationship is a model of the law: a harmonious, legal life in a decent neighborhood, a successful child, and a decent financial situation. However, beneath the surface lie mutual resentments, conflicts, and above all, boredom and routine. When Joe and Angela invite their mysterious neighbors over one evening, their casual and friendly conversation begins in a game full of ambiguity. What was hidden comes to light, and the uncomfortable will of mind and body takes on dangerously real forms. Will both couples sleep in each other's beds tonight?

The Virgin Suicides
The Lisbons are the parents of five attractive teenage daughters. The girls, aged thirteen to seventeen, are beginning to discover the joys of puberty, and their parents—devout Catholics—exert a pathological control over their lives. They isolate the girls from any boy who shows the slightest interest in any of their daughters. The seemingly perfect life of this dysfunctional family is shattered when the youngest girl attempts suicide.

Requiem For a Dream
"Requiem for a Dream" is Darren Aronofsky's second feature film, based on the novel by legendary American writer Hubert Selby Jr. A quarter-century ago, it arrived in Poland thanks to distribution by Gutek Film and has become so deeply embedded in our pop culture that it has become an incredibly important cultural text, quoted by writers, theater artists, and rappers. The then-young actors—Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans—rose to Hollywood stardom overnight, Ellen Burstyn's mesmerizing performance earned her an Oscar nomination, and the director himself proved himself a cinematic visionary. Now, 25 years after its premiere, the film returns to theaters in a restored 4K version.
"Requiem for a Dream" is a harrowing story about four characters from Brooklyn who, in pursuit of their dreams, journey into the depths of addiction. For drug-dealing Harry (Leto), his diet-pill-addicted mother (Burstyn), his addicted girlfriend (Connelly), and his best friend (Wayans), their escape from reality ends in tragedy. Unable to cope with the chaos of the modern world around them, each of them falls into addiction—to drugs, sweets, or television. "Requiem for a Dream" is a hypnotic story about longing for love, living in illusion and lies, and the trap of addiction.
The on-screen drama is complemented by a brilliant, mind-bending soundtrack by Clint Mansell performed by the Kronos Quartet. The Lux Aeterna theme is a musical classic, ruthlessly reworked and sampled to this day. And "Requiem for a Dream," even after all these years, still sends viewers on a shocking, emotional rollercoaster that's difficult to recover from.
