The Last Expedition
The true story of Wanda Rutkiewicz, the first woman in the world and the first person from Poland on the highest peaks of the world – told by herself. Wanda entered the male world of high-mountain expeditions without an invitation and paid the highest price for it. The director of the film, who is a climber herself, sets off to the Himalayas in Wanda's footsteps. The clue to the search is the heroine's audio diary found among a pile of archival materials. Wanda disappeared 30 years ago. Her body was never found. Some say she stayed in a Buddhist monastery. The film explores her life and mystery with the participation of famous climbers: Reinhold Messner, Krzysztof Wielicki and Carlos Carsolio, as well as women close to her: sister Janina Fies and manager Marion Feik.

Although it is difficult for them to part with their previous life, the brave children, raised in close proximity to each other, accept the changes. Handling The Undead
In response to despair and pain, the titular “undead” appear in deserted houses to sleep in their beds again and let their hair be combed, or they receive visits from their loved ones in the hospital. Although they are surprisingly calm and gentle zombies, the realism with which the filmmakers present their posthumous state is chilling, and it is not special, as befits someone who has just been dug out of the grave. Thea Hvistendahl’s feature debut breathes new life into the worn-out genre, because by making zombies heroes, it redirects our attention from the living dead to the living dead – people who have lost their loved ones. It is despair that alienates, pain that prevents contact, suffering that takes away the will to live, guilt that torments endlessly – all this makes you a resident of an existential limbo, a real ghost. Oslo, immersed in summer delirium, also has the status of a zombie. And the city in the summer, as we know from the cinema, is a special place.

VHS HELL/VIDEO NASTIES: Antropophagus
Bloody films have often been the subject of righteous indignation, but only one nation has declared a regular war on them. When VHS tapes appeared on the British market, the censorship decided to sift out the forbidden fruit, i.e. films filled with violence and nudity - and at the same time punish anyone who distributed them. As a result, a legendary list of 72 films banned by the British authorities was created. In his book "Video Nasties. Banned Films", Łukasz Karaś describes the phenomenon of titles suspended by British censorship and presents the behind-the-scenes of the creation of the infamous list. As part of the event at Kino Spektrum, you will have the opportunity not only to ask the author questions and listen to his story, but also to watch one of the most famous banned films - "The Cannibal" from 1980, better known as "Antropophagus". The cult Italian horror film directed by Joe D’Amato became famous primarily for the scene of eating a human fetus – it was enough for the British censors to ban its distribution for eighteen years. Although today nobody would leave the cinema outraged, “Antropophagus" still surprises with the level of macabre.

Memories of a Burning Body
Growing up in a time when sexuality was taboo, Ana, 68, Patricia, 69, and Mayela, 71, developed their perception of what it means to be a woman based solely on unspoken rules and hidden expectations. Finally, after years of silence, they found the courage to speak out. The memories, secrets, and longings of the three protagonists correspond and intertwine in a poetic, moving way. Uneasy stories, full of inner anger and long-suppressed frustration, inhabit the body of another woman of this generation, who plays out roles from each of their lives and in this way connects their fates.

A New Kind of Wilderness
For years, photographer Maria and her husband Nick lived outside the system with their four children on a beautiful farm. An alternative model of upbringing and teaching was as natural as the breathtaking Norwegian nature that surrounded them. However, when you decide to live outside the system, you have to be prepared for a possible exile from paradise. An unexpected tragedy turns the world of this unique family upside down. Although it is difficult for them to part with their previous life, the brave children, raised in close proximity to each other, accept the changes. They have to grow into new roles in a school they never attended and settle in a new home under the watchful eye of a loving father. Will they find a place for themselves in a world whose laws and dependencies they have to learn? Silje Evensmo Jacobsen's film received the Grand Prize in the international documentary competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
