A boy comes to the Turoszów open-pit lignite mine, who – like many others – is looking for work. He befriends a geologist, Piotr, who helps him adapt to the new environment. When a man looking for the boy appears in the mine, he panics and decides to run away… “This is not a film about production,” said the director. “This is a film about people. There will be a lot of contrasts in this film – ordinary, personal human issues, people absorbed in these issues against the background of a large construction site.” Indeed, thanks to the director’s typical poetics and ability to draw intimate portraits of the characters, the film, instead of a typical “production film,” became a parable about the search for values, about joy, but also about the dullness of human life.
