Dive in!
The story of the relationship between two divers, Enzo Molinari (Jean Reno) and Jacques Mayol (Jean-Marc Barr), and his girlfriend, Johana Baker (Rosanna Arquette), is a journey into the depths of the sea – and into the depths of the human soul. Filmed on several continents, Besson's production features arguably the most beautiful underwater scenes in cinematic history. This seductive, sensual story begins in the 1950s and flows to the present day in a shifting current: from the tension and risk of freediving to the awe of the sublimity of the underwater world.

THE BIG BLUE, based on the biographies of true freediving pioneers, is suspended between the blue abyss and the sun-scorched surface, where ordinary human affairs unfold. Mayol, the film's protagonist, longs to escape the ordinary: he's half-human, half-dolphin, and thrives in the sea, surrounded by animals.

A film made to be seen on the big screen: accompanied by the unforgettable, innovative music of Éric Serra, a regular Besson collaborator.
