Down by Law is a film about cheap whiskey and black coffee, all-night drinking and lost jobs, and how nice girls can turn your life into a nightmare. The film tells the story of a pimp, an unemployed disc jockey, and a disoriented Italian tourist who escape from prison together and wander the backstreets of Louisiana looking for a decent place to eat breakfast. It's like a collage made of objects from old gangster movies, blues songs, and prison stories.
