Paterson is a city bus driver. He lacks nothing. He loves his wife, full of crazy ideas, who creates a new plan for the future every day. The man has time for his passion (writing poetry), walking his dog and meeting a group of eccentric friends. Among them is a beer-drinking buddy who is going through a heartbreak, a free-spirited single woman who spends her evenings in a bar, and a constantly complaining work colleague who envies Paterson's cheerfulness. However, due to a funny coincidence, the stoic calmness of the title character is put to the test.
