The film begins in 1977, when Tomek Beksiński moves into his apartment. His parents live right next door, in the same housing estate, which is why their contacts remain very intense. Tomek's oversensitive and disturbing personality causes his mother, Zofia, to constantly worry about her son. At the same time, Zdzisław Beksiński tries to devote himself entirely to art. After Tomek's first unsuccessful suicide attempt, Zdzisław and Zofia must fight not only for their son, but also to regain control over their lives. When Zdzisław signs a contract with Piotr Dmochowski, an art dealer living in France, and Tomek starts working at Polish Radio, it seems that the family has the worst problems behind them. However, a series of strange, fateful events is yet to come...
