A visionary film by the master of French cinema Bertrand Bonello, appreciated at the Venice festival, inspired by the legendary story by Henry James. The year is 2044, and people are controlled by artificial intelligence, which, voiced by Xavier Dolan, also a co-producer of the film, persuades Gabrielle (the phenomenal Léa Seydoux in several versions!) to undergo a procedure to eliminate strong feelings that connect her with previous incarnations. We find her in Paris in 1910, when she meets Louis in a palace interior, who, like X from Last Year at Marienbad, convinces us that they have met before. Thus begins – presented in the spectacular form of a melodrama, science fiction, thriller and horror film – a spectacular and surprising story of eternally unfulfilled love and never-overcome fear. Bonello's visually extraordinary film aims to explode the frames of the cinema screen and the film experience.
